Q: Do you have a drop off Location or do you come onsite?
A: Yes and yes, Direct Tech has a Business location for drop off and pick up. We also provide onsite service to your home or business. If a repair service takes too long to fix onsite we also offer a pick-up and delivery service.
Q: Are your services warrantied?
A: Yes, there is a 30 day warranty on most services. All Hardware is covered by the manufactures warranty. Virus and spyware removal services are normally not warrantied as we cannot control if the user re-infects the computer. We sell software to help prevent infection.
Q: Could I have been scammed and infected by a recent caller?
A: We get many calls from customers that explain they received a call from a representative at HP or Microsoft requesting to remotely log In to your computer to perform and upgrade or optimize your system. In doing so the caller will downloads a device on the computer which then infects the system with a virus. Several technical problems have occurred from these prank callers. These may include one or more of the following: a Blue Screen that will not go away, system is infected with the FBI Virus, the computer will not shut down, unable to access emails, Spyware, Malware, Pop up adverts and more. Shut down your system and call us immediately as your data and passwords could also be compromised.
Q: My computer was working just fine before, why would it break now?
A: Computer parts wear out over time due to heat and use. All parts are prone to failure after time, particularly moving parts like hard drives or fans whose ball bearings deteriorate. Faulty video cards can cause a number of symptoms, not always related to what you see on the screen. We can evaluate and replace parts when doing so is economically the best choice for our client. In some cases replacing your workstations can be financially a better choice. We will provide you with all your options so that you can make an education decision that is best for you.
Q: Can I buy replacement power adapters and Laptop batteries from Direct Tech?
A: Yes, you can place an order with us for your laptop batteries and or power adapters- we will take care of the rest for you.
Q: Are free Anti-Virus software any good?
A: First and foremost, you never want to go without security protection on your computer. Free Anti-Virus has very low detection rates. Give us a call and we will be happy to inform you of the latest security software we recommend and sell to all our clients for Spyware, Malware and Virus protection.
Q: If I drop off my computer for service, what is the average turnaround time?
A: After the initial diagnoses, repairs are between 1-5 days. Note: the repair time varies due to what parts are needed. We stock many common parts. If a part needs to be ordered and shipped, this can take anywhere from 1 – 5 business days from the time & day the part is ordered. Expedited shipping is available for most parts.
Q: Do you offer priority service?
A: Our Managed Service Clients get Priority Service. If you wish to know more about Managed Services, please call our office for more information.
Q: What should I do with my old equipment?
A: If you have just upgraded your computer, printer, scanner, cell phone etc., and wish to donate your old one we know of a wonderful education program called “The Tijuana Project” an education program with the La Jolla Rotary who teaches children English and Computers. Call our office today to make arrangements.

A: Fry’s Electronics has a recycle program in their parking lot on weekends and also La Jolla High arranges a collection during the year.
Q: What Anti-virus do you recommend?
A: The top virus and malware protection changes from time to time basis… It is best to call our office and we will let you know what we are recommending to our clients. We partner with at least two vendors that we feel are keeping our clients safe and happy.
